These vehicles have solid axles front & rear with leaf springs.
The front leafs are different on each side with the driver side spring
having slightly more arch. The 4.5" & 7" front springs
have degree shims attached to improve drive shaft angle.
Drag
link angle is critical. The stock drag link is a one-piece,
non-adjustable unit that connects the pitman arm (at the steering
sector) to the steering arm (at the front axle knuckle). As the truck
is lifted, the distance between these two points is increased creating
2 problems:
1) Since the stock drag
link is now too short, right hand turning radius is decreased and the
steering wheel is moved off-center.
2) The increase in drag link angle can cause a tendency for the truck
to drift and wander, especially on well-worn or grooved driving
surfaces. In extreme cases, it can even cause contact between the
link's lower end and the spring-to-axle U-bolt.

The Rough Country line has been redesigned
to incorporate new "luxury ride" technology.
Each
double tapered leaf with Teflon pads was specifically
engineered for each individual vehicle to provide the
best ride possible. Use same spring on passenger & drivers side with
shackle plate included. These packages include four Heckethorn shocks.

1979-85 Toyota straight axle models
were built to last. These rugged trucks take on a whole new look with
skyjacker suspension systems which are available in 3", 5"
& 7" lift kits with rear blocks and systems with rear leaf
springs.
The Softride springs manufactured
by Skyjacker use
tapered leaves to yield a lower spring rate and better
travel, Teflon wear pads to help reduce interleaf
friction,
a "bolt" style clip to reduce leaf friction and
shotpeening
to compress the steel and increase its tensile strength.
Kits include rear blocks
and/or add-a-leafs. Systems include rear leaf springs.
