Ford built the SVT Raptor to bridge the gap between the standard street pickup and an offroad pre-runner. ICON has developed products to enhance the overall performance and ride quality. The ICON front shock starts with a true 3” main piston that features digressive rebound and flutter stack compression producing outstanding control, response and unparalleled ride performance. To address the extreme off-roader, an internal hydraulic system produces the extreme forces required during the last 40% of travel to achieve maximum bottom-out control. The multiple stages of compression and rebound are independently tuned to maximize the overall performance of the Ford Raptor front suspension.

An additional feature is the ability to externally adjust the front coil-over shocks. A Compression Damping Control Valve can be adjusted for 10 different resolution settings. The setting is effective for the entire stroke of the shock, each bringing a truly different feel from soft to firm to suit your specific needs.

For the rear, ICON includes a true 3.0”, three tube external bypass shock. Far from the norm, each bypass valve has a specific port design and is individually equipped with a different spring rate to ensure proper performance at each zone of shock travel. This means no clicking or road chatter while driving as the bypass valves feature dampened valve stops for a quiet and precise operation.

The biggest difference between the ICON bypass shocks and others are the easy to adjust knobs and replaceable bypass tubes. The Hi Resolution Clicker Knobs require no tools and can be adjusted in seconds from plush off-road performance to firm on road manners. Should damage occur, a valuable feature of this shock is the replaceable bypass tube that can be swapped out during a standard rebuild avoiding down time and added expense.
Even with the high performance 3.0 shocks, many Raptor owners still push their truck beyond what Ford intended. This requires more performance upgrades. As often happens, these trucks are typically loaded with additional weight. When combined with aggressive driving, this results in VERY high suspension impact speeds. ICON has overcome the limits of the rear factory rubber bump stops. These tend to squish out to the side of its mount allowing metal to metal contact that can, over time, lead to frame damage not covered by warranty.

The ICON solution to this issue is a hydro-pneumatic bump shock or “air bump”. This bump stop uses both oil and nitrogen to work as a spring and a shock. When the air bump is compressed, an internal nitrogen charge is compressed to act as a spring (similar to the OEM bump stop). The difference is the hydraulic air bump stop can be adjusted and tuned to have low impact forces at the beginning of the travel and ramp theoretically to infinity at the end. ICON’s hydraulic bump stop incorporates oil along with the damping piston internally to control the amount of energy that’s returned to the suspension. This reduces the Raptor’s tendency to “kick”. For Raptors hitting obstacles at extreme speeds, the oil and damping piston also control the compression of the air bump relative to speed. The resulting dynamic system is one that’s soft and compliant yet allows full suspension travel at slow speeds. At high speeds, it will create very high forces to resist bottoming out. The ICON hydraulic bump stop system uses a 2.5” travel air bump that allows the shock additional distance to control energy. This does not interfere with suspension travel under normal driving conditions. The design of the clamshell bracket with triangulated cross braces will not only provide a rigid mounting point for the air bump, but also adds frame support that may be prone to failure.

The Stage 3 system includes fully adjustable Billet Uniball upper control arms. One of the weak points of the SVT Raptor is the factory upper arm with ball joint. ICON 6061 Billet aluminum control arms use 1” PTFE lined stainless uniballs combined with 174- stainless taper pin adapters to increase upper arm misalignment. This allows for smooth and clean wheel travel without factory ball joint bind or breakage. A unique feature is adjustable rod ends to allow alignment adjustment in minutes rather than hours. By simply loosening the pinch bolts to adjust to your liking, then re-tightening the pinch bolts, the arms can be adjusted without removing from the vehicle. Factory track width is retained while improving tire clearance between the tire and back side of the front fender well. To prevent premature damage or tearing that can be caused by dirt and weather, the ICON upper control arm includes an o-ring sealed cover cap.
